WILDERNESS AND NATURE CENTER TO PADASJOKI

BASIC INFORMATION

Päijänteen Loma Oy owns 100%  of Padasjoen Ykköspaikat Oy. Padasjoen
Ykköspaikat Oy owns lakeside plot near Padasjoki harbour (address: Päijänteenraitti 1). This plot has 10.000 square layer of building right for tourism. Wilderness and Nature Center, where people can feel the nature and history of the area experientially, is planned to the plot.

Wilderness and Nature Center will be The Gate to Päijänne National Park. There will be a hotel level accommodation and restaurant operations, year-round open-air event center with its service buildings and marina with related services.

Kullasmarina Resort (Kiinteistö Oy Kullasmarina) has had three semi-detached villas (six villas in total) for rent  for tourists since 2009 in an address Kullasvuorenkuja 1, Padasjoki.

THE GROWTH PLAN IN BRIEF

To the area there will be built Wilderness and Nature Center, the hotel level accommodation and restaurant operations, year-round open-air event center with its service buildings and marina with related services.

This will be the first center of this size on Päijänne lakeshore.

The total estimated building costs are 50 meur. The Center will provide permanent job for about 100 persons in the province area.

THE GEOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL VALUE OF THE SITE

The geographical location next to the Päijänne National Park, Evo hiking area and a location in the middle of Päijänne-Ilves hiking route together with intriguing history of the area builds up an ideal site for Wilderness and Nature Center. National Board of Antiquities has done excavations on the site. According to these excavations there has been ancient settlements of the Siberian mammoth hunters’ descendants, who has lived by fishing and hunting.

SUPPORTING INFRASTRUCTURE

In Kullasvuori area there are 10 kilometers of exercise routes, a lookout tower, a nature trail, lighted skiing and exercise routes and a free frisbee golf route (18 baskets A1). One kilometer away there are Padasjoki communes’ sports center. Two kilometers away there are swimming hall and grocery stores.

The nature and history together with existing infrastructure of the area creates an outstanding  environment to build up the unique Lake Päijänne Wilderness and Nature Center for future travellers.

NEXT STEPS

Päijänteen Loma Oy, Padasjoen Ykköspaikat Oy and Kiinteistö Oy Kullasmarina are currently seeking for partner companies to design and develop the unique Lake Päijänne Wilderness and Nature Center.

Partner companies need to engage to the vision of “We want to create comprehensive, authentic and unique nature experiences for people, while respecting the resilience of nature”.

Regional development funding from EU will be applied to “The Lake Päijänne Wilderness and Nature Center” together with partner companies.
